I'm working with a distant cousin with her Martin(s) line. The patriarch
is supposed to be from Portugal and the matriarch from Sao Miguel. She
says they were married on Sao Miguel which I am skeptical of. The couple
was in Hawaii in the 1890s.

The patriarch's name is Adriano Martin. Is Adriano a Portuguese first
name? I question this because I haven't seen it before. Also, when going
through the Hawaiian records the only Adriano's I came across were Filipino
and Italian.

As I haven't found her family in the records for Hawaii, I am wondering if
it could be because I am looking for the wrong nationality.

Thanks for the help!
Mel
