Canto's Index goes back only to the late 1680s and it's very fragmented. It's what you see on CCA. He and Rodrigues did try to piece the fragments together to figure out the names, but there are a lot of ... where they couldn't read the names or dates. Hopefully, your ancestors came from Achadinha, Nordeste, or Nordestinho. Some of those go back further.
