-Shirl, I don't know if the name on your tree is correct without having first seeing the original document but there is Versinha as a surname and/or nick (alcunha). I checked the Porto thesaurus and it says it is the feminine diminutive of the verb Versa. Versa is the resulting effect of the rain or other has on the fields where all tall grass or crops get bent over.
Further to that there is a book written in French with the title "Des marranes a Spinoza" where it lists this name. The book talks about crypto - Judaism and the title "marranes" clearly indicates the content.
