It reads: "com a qual tem contraido esponsais" translated: "with whom he married". It does not say they are naturals from there.
I have this couple on my tree. Their daughter Joaquina de Jesus married into my family, Jose de Rezendes, brother of my GGF and they are from Sao Pedro Ponta Delgada. They had a daughter Emilia, also born June 19 1871 in Sao Pedro.
