Cheri, I think you are correct.  

First, if you look at the auditor's signature (in the right hand corner) on 
the previous and following pages, it is clearly starts by going straight 
up.  And second, the priest indicates words which are broken at the end of 
a line and continue on the next line with an underscore at the end of the 
line.  It looks to me like there's an underscore at the end of the first 
line which would mean that the maternal grandfather's name is broken into 
two sections.... "Burge_im" or "Burgo_im" ????
