Dear Kyle Pereira, I am the author of the genealogy site that you have reffered hereunder. I am pleased to infom you that in 1861 were bor two Carolinas. One in February (record 14) and the one that you mentioned that was born in August. The first one is your ancestor and beyong her fathers I have added her grandfathers. Carolina married with the name of Carolina de Jesus but on the baptism records of her sons she is mentioned also as Carolina Augusta. With her father happens the same concerning the surname "da Ponte". Probably the family lived near one bridge and this is a way to distinguish people with the same name. As you know josé, sousa, medeiros ando some more are very common in S. Miguel. I have read the comments to your e-mail and so I am not going to repeat since I agree with them. By the way, in my site you can find all the marriages celebrated in the church of São Pedro, Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande S. Miguel from 1577 up to 1977. I have done the same for Lomba de Santa Bárbara, nowadays Santa Bárbara, Ribeira Grande. Since I have a lot of ancestors from Rabo de Peixe I am finishing the marriages celebrated in the church of Sr. Bom Jesus (only 190 to go). I am very careful about the sources and the wring but as Cheri Mello says in the first line humans make errors.
