I had the same sort of problem as Elaine. The family tree is unusable with my iPad so I was using my desktop computer. When I dragged, the person was left floating there, unattached to anyone. I could figure out what to do with it.
I had other problems, too. I need to update my tree so I will probably upload a new gedcom sometime soon. (And since I installed an update of gmail I am having trouble figuring out how to even reply right here in the group.. I didn't used to think I was technology challenged.)
