I have been working with the freguesia of Ribeirinha for more years than I
would like to admit. It started as a project to sort out all the Furtado’s and
see how they were related. Still working on it today and see no end in
presently in site. In the process I can help with most families in Ribeirinha
from 1836 to 1896. Just have 10 years more of marriages to do but lots of
Baptisms and Obitos. Many families in Ribeirinha came from Ribeira Grande (NS
Estrela) So some of my work goes there prior to 1836.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Why researching a whole freguesia is good idea

Mel Lassalle, one of our list members, writes a blog. Her specialty is
Portuguese Hawaiian research, but she writes on other topics as well.

Today, she wrote about how she started off researching only one line in the
freguesia (village) of Maia and how it turned into researching most of Maia.
