K, do you know about the book "On the Edge of History," by Joseph C. Abdo?
The first chapter includes a mention of the Huguenot leader Agrippa
d'Aubigne. The author states that the brothers Cornelius, John, and Robert
d'Aubigne fled to Britain to escape religious persecution. Cornelius and
John later left for Virginia and changed the family name to Dabney. Robert
went to Boston. Robert's great-grandson John Bass Dabney is the main focus
of Abdo's account, and a family tree of his descendants is included. I
don't believe Cornelius's descendants are mentioned. But, if you are
interested in the account, Amazon is selling the book in an expensive
paperback edition and a very reasonably priced Kindle edition. Also, there
are apparently used copies available.

Since your ancestor immigrated to Virginia sometime between 1715 and 1717,
you might be able to find information on him through Ancestry.com or one of
the other genealogy sites. There's a lot of information available on
Colonial Virginia.

Good luck.
