Sam,

        in the mean time(until BBC search api are available), you can use A9
(http://a9.com). Select the "ALL BBC" column, enter your search and you get
your BBC news from all BBC RSS channels starting from April of this year.
You can also syndicate your search results with A9 (just grab the link info
in the red square at the bottom of the first page of your result set).
