From my point of view, the initiatives I've seen on the list so far are simply different ways of displaying data - which is all well and good, but since they are effectively pointers to a broadcast programme (in the main) it would be logical to include that end product in the grand scheme of things.

I guess you've not looked at http://www.mightyv.com/ that closely then :) ? Register and rate programs/series, these then
appear in your schedule - you can then use our script (linked from the about page) to have this record on your eyeTV,
your schedule is available in JSON format - so you can plug it in to what ever PVR format you have.

You can also get your schedule as RSS or even iCal if you want.

Once recorded, I should be able to (once again, remotely) compile a playlist in my preferred order, so that I can get in from work and choose to watch Spooks, and any other number of programmes that may have been broadcast tonight/anytime.

Your PVR will have a list of your recorded programs on it - why do you need a remote playlist :) ?

Of course, if you wanted to go balls-to-the-wall about it, you could then share your playlists or playlist items with others, and they could then stream or download to their own suitable equipped device direct from you.

We talked about this and it'd be cool to have a p2p service of 'I missed this - did anyone record it?' - but
licensing issues stop it unfortunately.

Leo (happily recording loads of stuff on his eyeTV with a cron pulling the schedule of MighTyV).
