Hello, I've filed two bug reports in Debian for the current version of backupPC there (3.0.0-3).
The first is an issue that makes file excludes practically unusable for the tar backup method [1]. The second is a documentation issue: it refers to /etc/backuppc/_pc_/ as the location for per-PC configuration files, which is incorrect [2]. See the Debian bug reports for details. Both have patches. Please check my note in the BR for the first issue!
