I was working with the paths /[host]/[archive]/[share]/...
I'm also mangling the share '/' to 'unix'.

e.g.
/mountpath/stephen-laptop/81/unix/...


A full COW implementation is certainly an interesting idea. For a cyrus mail 
store it could save an almighty amount of space at some cost in complexity 
and speed.
