thanks for your consideration.

since it's one problem, one solution may be enough: yours or mine :) .

i'm happy to hear that the issue is being treated, since it's a bug frequently
complained of by backuppc users.

as debian user i turned first to the package maintainer, hoping from him to
submit the patch upstream, since debian maintainers are usually in relation with
upstream developers.

but the maintainer informed me yesterday that he closed the bug, leaving his
recommendation (to symlink the /var/lib/backuppc) as our best choice.

so please ensure the upstream backuppc is geting fixed, then debian will receive
it sometimes too.
