I would disagree. I would like to move to 4.0 - however, I need to bring
my backup history with me. Otherwise the only method of upgrading is to
move to a new server. Starting over means that I have no current backups.
This may be the case with your configuration but it wouldn't be the case
for everyone. Many could just add another few disks to the server,
leave the old
backuppc there for restores, and be done.
Obviously this should not be a *goal* but it has a cost, and the benefit
should be well understood too.
