Thanks for your response Les,

I have made the changes you suggested and now I get a
completely failed backup on my XP box and the 2003
server backs up the Recycler, Temp, System Volume and
Internet temp folders.

Previously I had used a / to exclude the directories
and for some odd reason it worked.  The only problem I
was having is on the XP boxes it was trying to back up
non-existent folders like R, S, T, etc.

Keep the suggestions coming.  As for now I am
resorting back to the / preceding directories I wish
to exclude and will have to deal with the folders R,
S, T, etc.
