are you talking about replicating a backuppc server to an offsite location? if so, the answer is "not well". the number of files tends to run rsync out of memory. smaller installations of a few GB you can get away with; much more than a few dozen GB and you're likely to have problems unless you have gobstoppers of memory in the boxes. for offsite backups, I just do a parallel set of backups to the offsite server, in addition to the backups to the onsite server. it's far from perfect, but it is workable as long as you have enough time and bandwidth. -- Carl Soderstrom Systems Administrator Real-Time Enterprises www.real-time.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
