not really a big need, so long as you understand the tools involved. you should just need to do an 'apt-get update; apt-get install backuppc' to install the software to the ramdrive, then link the existing pool into the appropriate location on the ramdrive, where backuppc is expecting the pool to be. I haven't actually tried this (tho I suppose I should); but I see no reason it shouldn't work. at the very least, you can use BackupPC_tarCreate to do the restores instead of the web interface, and as a very last resort there is always BackupPC_zcat to recover the contents of files from the pool. an idiot-disk for recovering machines might be a good thing on a commercial product; but I don't know if it would be a worthwhile investment of time for this project. -- Carl Soderstrom Systems Administrator Real-Time Enterprises www.real-time.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
