Hi,

I have spent a frustrating afternoon trying to get backuppc to backup a
windows XP home system I have.

I was getting NT access denied errors, as I'm sure you know about. I
booted into safe mode, and changed the file permissions to allow
everyone access to the offending dirs (/windows, /documents and
settings, and /program files). Smbclient will now let me use those dirs
from the command line.

When I ask backuppc to do its thing, I get the following output:

Contents of file /var/lib/backuppc/pc/blackbox/XferLOG.bad.z, modified
2007-07-22 15:27:26 (Extracting only Errors)

Running: /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\blackbox\\c -I 192.168.0.65 -U -E -N -d
1 -c tarmode\ full -Tc -
Xfer PIDs are now 6176,6175
[ skipped 1 lines ]
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
tarExtract: Done: 0 errors, 0 filesExist, 0 sizeExist, 0 sizeExistComp,
0 filesTotal, 0 sizeTotal
Got fatal error during xfer (No files dumped for share c)
Backup aborted (No files dumped for share c)

so I ssh'd into the backuppc as user 'backuppc' and trued the above
command.

Up scrolls screen after screen of data. I assume this is a success.

If it is a failure, then how do I troubleshoot this?
If it is a success, then why am I getting the backuppc error?

Note: I'm using version 2.1.2pl1 from the ubuntu repos. I would be glad
to update if this would help.

Thanks for your time,
   Ian
