I believe there was a version (or set of samba versions) that had this bug. I think it was 3.0.23 or so. There was a discussion of this around bug a year ago on the mail list. Google "backuppc incremental NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE". Try an older or newer version fo samba.
