Do you have to use a text based browser?  If the reasons for doing so 
are that you only have ssh access and/or you have a low bandwidth 
connection from where you are to reach the server, you might look at 
freenx on the server or some other machine where a browser can run and 
reach the server, with the free NX program that you can download from 
http://www.nomachine.com.   This gives you a usable X connection even at 
fairly low speeds and you can reconnect to a running session where you 
might already have a browser connected to backuppc.  It works well for 
remote administration, but won't help if you are working from a device 
that only does character mode.
