My *100 concept cam from the rsync faq: http://samba.anu.edu.au/rsync/FAQ.html#4 I don't know if the overhead associated with perl is higher or lower. I did see a reference in the archives to some critical parts of the Rsync perl libraries being native (compile C). So this might suggest comparible overhead to that of rsync.
