The biggest reason would be the purpose of the forum gateway in the first
place, which is that some people prefer the forum interface in a community like
this one.

I know that some of you think that I only want to do this to increase traffic
to my site and make money. Anyone that actually knows me would know that this
is silly for a few reasons. The first of which is that the site is not a
money maker. I know you see a few banners here and there but they barely pay
the monthly costs on the site and don't really make me any money. The second
reason is that I really am a pretty altruistic guy who does this to help the
backup community. Finally, the read only method (if I could make it work)
would get me just as many pageviews without all the hassle. But oddly enough,
I believe that the two-way gateway is a good thing if we can just work out our
differences.
