If you want to backup your whole pool, your most likely out of luck (except using a filesystem dump as suggested). If you just want your backed up hosts on tape, you may use BackupPC_tarCreate or the archiving feature. I'm using bacula to backup the generated tar files and have them deleted afterwards.
