under normal circumstances reinstalling of backuppc never touches config files and backuppc pool. but it seems that something is broken on your machine - I refuse any responsibility :) [I don't know any backuppc install/uninstall method which removes the pool (normally located in /var/lib/backuppc/). imo a reinstallations is safe if you store ypur server and client config files somewhere else while removing and installing your backuppc server) renke
