sure you're missing something. A file or directory name "%2f" would luckily be mangled to "f%252f" - otherwise there could be file name collisions. See sub fileNameEltMangle in BackupPC::Lib. So, no, "f%2f" is *not* equivalent to an unmangled "%2f".
