Fairly sure that is the root of the problem
That was the clue I needed. Apparently sometime between hardy and karmic, the nmblookup binary moved from samba-common to samba-common-bin. This means that the maintainer for the Ubuntu karmic package needs to add samba-common-bin as a dependency to the backuppc package. The maintainer of the backuppc package is Ludovic Drolez, who I've CC'ed. Ludovic, this may be an Ubuntu-specific bug. But this problem (backuppc package fails installation on Ubuntu karmic because of missing nmblookup binary) will happen for squeeze and lenny-backports. Would you mind updating the package? Chris, your solution is: apt-get install samba-common-bin Regards, Tyler -- "A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything.
