The first set of values from iostat is a long accumulation that you normally 
should ignore.  If you give a number on the command line it will run 
continuously reporting every so many seconds.  A value of 1 to 5 should give 
you 
  meaningful samples when the machine is busy.

But, that 70% iowait number pretty much tells you what the machine is doing 
with 
most of its time...
