Hello Craig, It's been a while, I hope you're doing well.
I ran the smbclient command directly and it looks like a problem with accented chars in Samba. On each problematic client, the last file backuped contains an accented char "Voisinage réseau" (Network Places) and it confuses smbclient. --- Problematic Win7 --- directory \Videos\ 504 (504000.0 kb/s) \Videos\desktop.ini directory \Voisinage d'impression\ NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Voisinage d'impression\* directory \Voisinage réseau\ NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Voisinage rtar: dumped 4813 files and directories Total bytes written: 657149952 ------ --- Correct WinXP --- NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \LocalService\* directory \NetworkService\ NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \NetworkService\* tar: dumped 373 files and directories Total bytes written: 18560000 ------ I added a file Z.txt in the directory that is being backuped and it works! :) --- Workaround Win7 --- directory \Videos\ 504 ( 123.0 kb/s) \Videos\desktop.ini directory \Voisinage d'impression\ NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Voisinage d'impression\* directory \Voisinage réseau\ NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED listing \Voisinage r 0 ( 0.0 kb/s) \Z.txt.txt tar: dumped 4655 files and directories Total bytes written: 650930688 ------ The "Voisinage réseau" line is still getting skewed but at least the last two lines are right. Looking at the samba source code, I'd guess that the problem has to do with the iconv stuff done in lib/util/dprintf.c:d_vfprintf but I didn't spend a lot of time looking... I filed a bug with samba.org: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7790 Cheers, GFK's Le 2010-11-10 01:47, Craig Barratt a écrit : > Guillaume, > > Good to hear from you. > > This error seems strange - the closing line from tar is > "Total bytes written: 640049664", which is exactly what > lib/BackupPC/Xfer/Tar.pm expects to see to think the backup > is good. > > I'd be interested if you could debug what is going wrong... > > Craig -- Guillaume Filion http://guillaume.filion.org/
