When I installed a new BackupPC-server I opted to use ext4, as it at that time came out-of-the-box with CentOS 5.6. So far, I believe it's performing much better than ext3 did previously on the older BackupPC-server. Writes and fsck's run way faster is my subjective feeling. -- /Sorin
