I ran into something sorta similar. Is your pool stored on an NAS or NFS share? In our case, RRDTool was unable to get a lock on files in the pool over the share, and would hang and hang. Sometimes it would time out, very rarely it would catch the page and load. Backuppc otherwise worked fine in a very Heisenberg sense (so long as you didn't observe it, it was working....) I solved the issue by adding the nolock option to the mount in fstab.

Might not be the same hardware situation for you, but give RRDTool a look.

Hey all. New to the list.

I've recently installed backuppc on Ubuntu. Had no real issues.

Now, when I try to load the hosts configuration page (http://192.168.20.191/backuppc/index.cgi?action=summary) , it just spins. Never loads the page.

I've searched a bit for faq's or others with this issue, but can't seem to find any info. The IRC channel on freenode is silent today.

Any thoughts?
