Under Ubuntu you need to use the sudo command as you need to be "root" to start system services, i.e.: $ sudo /etc/init.d/backuppc start > I tried going to the url with /backuppc, however it reply a 404 not found. You also need to start apache in the same way (it' it's not already started).
