Grub uses them too...But I changed them in grub.cfg and fstab (and /etc/cryptab), and grub was still having issues...I tried both update-grub /dev/sda and dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64 (to rebuild the initramfs) and both gave me disk not found.
