I have recently had some weird hardware or software errors on my backuppc filesystem. I have fixed the filesystem errors but some of my cpool files have been corrupted. Firstly, during a restore I was getting Error: padding messages like this one:
Error: padding .... to 33267797 bytes from 32505856 bytes for quite a few files. I tried to manually decompress the files and that didn't work: /usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_zcat: can't uncompress ... So the files have been corrupted. But they are not fixed by future backups that use the corrupted backup as a baseline, these error lines are in the XferLOG file Unable to read 3641536 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=2930688, seekPosn=130238464 (9728,272,10001,133169152,133881404) Unable to read 3641536 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=2930688, seekPosn=130238464 (9728,272,10001,133169152,133881404) Unable to read 1614336 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=1350656, seekPosn=29058048 (9216,512,10001,30408704,31531852) Unable to read 1614336 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=1350656, seekPosn=29058048 (9216,512,10001,30408704,31531852) Unable to read 1284112 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=211456, seekPosn=45925888 (9728,272,10001,46137344,47210572) Unable to read 1284112 bytes from /var/lib/backuppc/pc/XXX/new//fexpdata/RStmp got=211456, seekPosn=45925888 (9728,272,10001,46137344,47210572) At the moment what I'm doing is decompressing my entire cpool, detecting corrupted files and removing them from existing backups, then doing a nightly to remove them from the cpool. Is this a known problem or is there an easier way of fixing it?
