Greetings, I have BackupPC (server) setup on a linux computer with many Windows 7 computers (clients) setup with cygwin/rsyncd. All the full backups seem to complete, yet all the inrc backups fail with signal=PIPE. This leads me to two questions, why would rsync fail in the incr mode and how to find out why rsync failed?
Let me explain the second question first. I have rsync setup on the W7 computers as a windows service and the 'log file' entry pointing to a file in a directory in the cygwin path. With the log file non-existing and then starting the rsync as a service an empty log file is created. After that nothing. Even if I create the log file manually, still nothing logged. Nothing is logged when BackupPc performs an rsyncd connection. I have tried adding setting that should be creating something in the log, but nothing. What is required to get rsync to write debugging information into the log file. missing libraries??? If a debugging guide for this configuration exists I would love to read it, short of that here is what I have for the last incr failure. Note that I started a full backup in an attempt to debug, BackupPC appears to have run another incr backup subsequent to this. Shouldn't this be an extremely small transaction, as not much should have changed.
