To add some info that may or may not help . . .
The Samba4 fileserver uses 'ext4' file structure. (If that matters.) The "other linux clients" do not backup 'acls' or 'xattr' attributes. And I found a bug report (3828) at https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3828 from 2006 referencing rsync version 2.6.8 and how "_That warning means that rsync was patched with ACL support but not configured with it enabled. You'll need to contact whomever packaged it, since they're the only ones that can change the package . . ._" Realizing that this bug (3828) conversation is talking about "rpm" packaged rsync-2.6.8 that was not "enabled during configuration" and the errors are very, very similar to that I am receiving. I wondered if there was any connection. I cannot find any further info on rsync_bpc . . . of course it is unique to BackupPC-4.0.0alpha3 Anyone else backing up "ACLS" and "xattr" attributes without issues like I am having? --- _______________________________ Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846 www.donelsontrophy.com [1] "Everyone deserves an award!!"
