Hi guys, thank you all for your responses. Now everything sounds me more clear. I'll avoid upgrading my 3.3 install if I could, since it's working in production environment for several Unix-Like machines, so no need and intention to upgrade to v4 .
I think I'll try, as a workaround to manage xattrs, to write a small pre-backup script that stores xattrs in a file (eg using getfattr) and restores them when during restore jobs.
