Joe Konecny <mailto:[email protected]> May 12, 2016 at 3:25 PM I only used because the docs suggested it... http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/faq/ssh.html What is best, use an ip address or omit "from=" althogether?
Using an IP address is a fine idea. I do basically the same thing, but via a different method.I have ssh running on an alternate port, running out of xinetd. xinetd restricts what IPs can connect. The normal sshd doesn't allow root login; this one does.
You could also accomplish more or less same thing via, e.g., iptables rules, or tcp wrappers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Employees who bring their own devices (BYOD) to work are irked by the imposition of MDM restrictions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows you to control only the apps on BYO-devices by containerizing them, leaving personal data untouched! https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/304595813;131938128;j
