Hi Edward, I'm not sure how much help this list can be as we are just a group of people who administrate our own installations of BackupPC. It's a very flexible solution that can handle massive amounts of backup and runs maintenance-free for years, so it's not a surprise if it got forgotten about until the disk filled up.
Most of the folks on this list installed the software ourselves. The "PC Backup Genie" is just a cutesy name attributed to the process that sent the email. Can you reach out to the individual responsible for the installation of the system? If it's not possible to contact the person in charge of the BackupPC build, the best clue to find the filled disk is to identify the originating server of any alerts such as the one below to lead you to the source. As the Senior IT Admin you're familiar with the spoofability of the "FROM" address on an email. There's no guarantee that it came from the "remote05" server, but check that first as a simple first step. If that server isn't running BackupPC then contact your email administrator to ask for a mail trace to determine which server sent it. ________________________________ From: Edward Cotter <ecot...@aliaswire.com> Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2022 2:19 AM To: backuppc-users@lists.sourceforge.net <backuppc-users@lists.sourceforge.net>; backuppc-users-requ...@lists.sourceforge.net <backuppc-users-requ...@lists.sourceforge.net> Cc: Mindas Berzonskis <mberzons...@aliaswire.com>; Charles Chang <cch...@aliaswire.com>; Scott Armit <sar...@aliaswire.com>; Chaminda Delpagodage <chami...@aliaswire.com> Subject: [BackupPC-users] HELP - FW: BackupPC administrative attention needed Hello backuppc support, New user to your mailing list and completely new to the product.
