Yes, it is *possible*, but BackupPC works best when it is used to back
up files which are treated as files by the system on which they live.
Although a VM image may appear to be a file in your filesystem, it is
treated by the VM as an image of a mass storage device.  If you mean
to back up images of mass storage devices then my advice would be that
there are better ways of doing it than to use BackupPC.
