I installed the six packages w/o issue in my RL10.1 vm. You should create the backuppc user first before doing the install. I didn't so wil have to mess around with that before I can configure it.

I've now spent a week or so testing this build and all the test backups of target client have succeeded and also some select restores. I configured httpd with mod_perl which reflects the production operation on my home system. I would now like to build and install the BackupPC-4.4.1rc1 release candidate starting with building BackupPC_XS-0.63. These release candidates do not have pre built src.rpm's or spec file thus when trying to build in mock it is complaining of the lack of a spec file. Is it possible to extract and modify the spec file for the current BackupPC_XS-0.62 to reflect the .63 candidate. I've already extracted it and browsed for what changes need to be made. Obviously the change log is going to be lacking in completeness. I would remove the references to zlib being provided. I don't want to use any  other install method other than as an rpm.
Your thoughts and guidance appreciated.

Well after browsing the epel source for backuppc-4.4.0-20 xs-0.62 I see I have a more complex task than I anticipated. There are a number of patches and added "sources" that tailor the user environment to a more predictable state. It appears that my approach will be to transpose sources within the src.rpm's and change named path's in the varios spec and folder names. I guess this is a good reason to work in a vm.

Question: There is a patch by cbarrett in backuppc-4.4.0-20 that references issue #466 and is listed as closed around July 2022. This issue does not appear in the change log for backuppc-4.4.1rc1. Is this just an omission or does it still need to be applied as a patch for this release candidate. The other patches are outside backuppc scope and tailor the binaries to RH code base or pathing.
