Thanks for the advice and info.

I'm unable to add another drive to this system so I think I'll go with both
rsync and a tarball of the critical directories into an externally mounted
drive then rebuild the system and see what happens :)

After reading through the various archives I was a little concerned about
all the references to hard links even though I did check the dates of the
archived messages and knew they were for the earlier versions (fedora
delivers V4)

For what it's worth, kudos to all those that built this system and to those
who help out users like me. I used it within a DoD environnment for a
couple of small Labs I maintained prior to retirement and rarely had an
issue... and all my users loved it and the fact that they could log into
the web interface and restore accidentally deleted files or directories
themselves without causing a stir (or panic). It's a wonderful backup
system for home or smaller work environments.

I'll follow up and let you know how it goes.
