For what it is worth to you, in the last rpm release I set 
--disable-batch-insert 
on older platforms (ie EL3) and it seems to be working. While my EL3 
server failed on the previous release (before doing that), all seems fine now. 
No errors since the 2.2.4-2 upgrade.
