This would be useless only if you limit the volume use time to one day.
As long as you can, on average, put 1 1/3 of a daily backup onto each tape everything should work ok.
Otherwise... well, you see that with bacula everyone is free to make their own mistakes. And I guess I'm not the only one who did ;-)
