Perhaps as a future feature (I'm not aware of this functionality in the current versions), there could be a


"/etc/bacula/bacula -t <config file>"

(or similar) option that would validate a configuration file, similar to Apache's "httpd -t" command. This is important for front-end UI's that parse and edit Bacula configuration files. Before overwriting the current config file, an engine parser could execute this command on, say, ./etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf.tmp, to determine if the syntax is OK or not.
