I think it will vary from OS to OS.  FreeBSD has:

$ grep bacula /etc/passwd
bacula:*:910:910:Bacula Daemon:/var/db/bacula:/sbin/nologin

$ grep bacula /etc/group
bacula:*:910:

And I add Bacula to operator:*:5:root,bacula
