I am writing this e-mail due to a problem that occurs when I try to boot off
of a
bacula Rescue CD as I would in the event of a disaster. The configure
script
runs fine as well as the "make all" command, however, when I run the linux
1,
linux 2 or the linux debug option after booting off the CD I get the same
result
which is a kernel panic. The following is the messages I receive when this
occurs:
_______________________________________________________________________

Net: Registered protocol family 2
IP: routing cache hash table of 2048 buckets, 16Kbytes
TCP: Hash tables configured (established 16384 bind 32768)
NET: Registered protocol family 8
NET: Registered protocol family 20
ACPI: (supports S0 S1 S4 S5)
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
Kernel Panic: VFS : Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,1)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

When I run the memtest86 option I get the following output:

________________________________________________________________________

Loading
Invalid or corrupt kernel
boot:_

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I get this message despite many different options to cdrecord. My configure
options for the static-fd where:

./configure \
--prefix=/usr \
--sbindir=/usr/sbin \
--sysconfdir=/etc/bacula \
--with-scriptdir=/etc/bacula \
--enable-smartalloc \
--enable-client-only \
--enable-static-fd

I got the following output when i typed in "uname -a":

Linux stat10 2.6.8-2-686 #1 Thu May 19 17:53:30 JST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux

So for building the bacula rescue CD my configure options where:

./configure \
--with-kernel=2.6.8-2-686 \
--with-static-fd=/root/bacula-static-fd

where /root/bacula-static-fd is the directory where i put my static fd and a
working copy of my bacula-fd.conf file.

I also tried without specifying the kernel version and I get the same
result.

I would really appreciate any help in this matter. I Think I followed all
the steps discussed in the bacula documentation. I am Running a Debian
system with bacula version 1.38.10. Thanks for any help that you can give
me.
