Yes and no:
- - It does write to the registry when installing itself as a service (can
be done with bacula-fd.exe /install as far as I recall)
- - The new installer (1.39-beta, soon to be 1.40) installs the config
files somewhere under "Documents and Settings" (the old 1.38 installer
put them into the same directory as the executables)

You could also try the /S parameter of the installer which should do a
silent install. After that you'll probably have to locate and overwrite
the config files though.

Once you've got the service and conf files installed, upgrading can be
done by stopping the service, replacing the binaries (executables and
libraries) and starting the service again (I do that remotely from a
Linux box).
