I am total new to Bacula but I had the same issues here with my HP DLT
drive. Switching off the sd deamon would let me run tapeinfo -f tape0 but
when the deamon was on, I got permission denied.

Later on I noticed the parameter "AlwaysOpen" and "AutomaticMount" was
switched on in the sd device config. So I set them to no, restarted the
deamon and now I can run tapeinfo without any problems :-)
