You're right ... the client doesn't do the lookup of "not_the_client-dir" as this would never show up in DNS anyway ... my mistake. > Unless I'm very mistaken, the client does NOT connect the DIR. It does actually but it depends on what you are trying to do. If you run bconsole from the client it connects to the DIR (but that is defined in bconsole-conf) ... and even shows this at the bconsole prompt. This is why I asked if he was trying to run bconsole from the client not the master fd. The config I pasted was just an example of what is in the fd-conf on the client and it does show the name of the dir but this is an appointed name ... mine aren't in DNS either.
